Округ

САД е поделен на тринаесет окрузи,секој со различен Апелационен суд. Единаесет од нив се означени со броеви од еден до единаесет. Округот Колумбија има свој посебен Апелационен суд кој разгледува предмети кои се однесуваат на федералната влада. Федералниот округ има надлежност врз територијата на целата држава. Всушност,тој разгледува предмети од одредени теми како што се пронајдоци и меѓународна трговија. Апелационите судови често се споменуваат по име или по бројот на нивниот округ,на пример"Деветти округ."
